Twins Sign Joel Zumaya.

The Twins signed right-handed reliever Joel Zumaya to a one-year major league contract after he passed a physical examination today. The deal is worth between $800.000 to $1.7 million and the team can option out of his contract at spring training if things do not work out. Zumaya came up when he was 21 years old but has only thrown 209.2 IP with a 3.05 ERA in six seasons because of injuries. He was once thought to be the future closer of the Detroit Tigers because his stuff was so devastating. He suffered a fracture to his right elbow back in June of 2010 at Target Field and has never recovered. General Manager Terry Ryan is trying to catch lightening in a bottle because Zumaya ia a low-risk, high-reward type of player. Scouts from twenty different teams watched Zumaya throw between 92-94 MPH during a workout in December 2011. Please feel free to leave me any comments because your opinion matters to me.
